Big news regarding Fender (and the Fender sub-brands like Jackson, Squier, EVH, Charvel, etc.) and whether or not they will attend the annual NAMM convention. CEO and President of NAMM John Mlynczak has also made some interesting statements about overseas companies at the convention and their future there. Also, will Gibson be back at NAMM 2025? Let's get into the details. Shred with my instruc...

These Mad Cat Tele style guitars go all the way back to the 70s, although most people probably know them as the guitar that Prince played! This is Firefly's version, and at around $200, it's an incredible deal. But guitar players expect so much these days. When other guitars made by Firefly include roasted maple necks, locking tuners, coil splitting and more... is this still a good deal, or do ...

All right Danzig... You know what's funny you said that in the video. That was my first thought when I saw you It was that you look somewhat like Glenn Danzig.. Anyway, before I came here I watched another of bootleggers videos with their little blues 15. It was loud I unneededly, and granted the one presenting the amp which I believe was the owner, was horrible, but at the amp itself wasn't impressive at all. So I search for other videos of his work and I found you and I'm still with the same impression. And hell first of all, that amp is nothing like a dumble. Nothing. I think the guys on cocaine or something and thinking he's way cooler and way better of an Amp builder than he really is.. That goes for his playing also.... But yeah Danzig, I'm going to have to give a thumbs down on this thing. Looks like most others did too. When you first turn it on, first strum I thought immediately that sounds like an old silver tone or Sears branded amplifier from the '70s. You know the real cheap ones with s***** cabinets And just as s***** speakers? There's just as no real tone there! Yes the overdrive channel has a little bit of something but it's really not that sought after of a sound. Sort of like something that comes from a crate. And I'm not bashing on crate entirely, I have there vintage 50 and I like it. But, you get what I'm saying I'm sure. Just too much crap on it that doesn't really give a pleasing tone, too crappy of a cabinet, too small of a cabinet. So it just doesn't have much going for it at all in my opinion. Then I hear the price. I'm like oh my gosh this guy's an idiot. The builder I mean. There's no way that amp is worth $1,500. Now if he priced it at 300 he could probably sell some amplifiers, at 1500 I'll be surprised if he sells any. If he does sell a couple by chance he's going to have some returns on his hands!!!

morons think a $2,500 les paul actually costs $2,000 to make - or $1,500, or along those lines. no, it costs under $100 to make. probably well under, depends on how much manual labor goes into it, and the location on the globe for that labor. even in the us, i don't think a guitar goes through more than an hour, combined, of manual labor. the rest is the brand, and everybody's markup. same goes for pickups, and everything else - i mean, how much is 100 g of alnico magnet, machine wired with a bunch of copper wire, dipped in wax, and with a cap on? probably around $5 - adjust to inflation. it used to be that people would listen to their ears, and if they could get what they liked for cheap, even better. nowadays morons need to look at the price tag to know if they "like" something of not - is it recommended, and what does that make them? i've got a $20 epi pro 2 pickup set - ok, it was $40, but i got a messed up order discount - and it sounds bitchin'. absolutely bitchin'. i've got got a ceramic three singles set on my strat - i've upgraded various stuff, but i've kept those. the stock set of a $150 aria guitar. it sounds - it's probably already apparent - bitchin'. i'll probably test them, at some point, against some vintage mod that, at some point, i'm considering getting - no rush, cause, like i've said, the guitar already sounds bitchin', but until then i've got no reason to complain - and no reason to look for something else, really, just lazily thinking if i can do better. i promise you the cable you're using, and the pickup height make more of a difference than 200 bucks in price, if you've already got good quality cheap. but people most likely think with their insecurities and ego, rather than their actual tastes and ears. remember the $500 lee malia epi explorer - and that already had proper markup - that got to $700, cause the demand was so great, and then they discontinued it, cause it was fucking with gibson's proper sales. that's how the "market" works. there is something that you need to pay attention to, though, if you get a really cheap guitar, and it's for real - and personally verified. the wood. in addition to the finish quality, fretwork detail, and all that, that i imagine everybody knows. and it's NOT whether it's "real wood" or not - of course it's real wood - or what kind of wood it is, it's how well it's cured. most likely, not well at all. and you can set it amazingly, plays great, low action, all nice and dandy, you're happy as candy, but in time, your neck will start to warp in all kinds of ways. the bow is gonna become asymmetrical, stuff like that. NOW, there is a cure, fear not, and it doesn't cost much. get you some wall hangers, and hang your guitar by the neck until - you know the rest. after you've done the proper set up, obviously, store it like that for a a few years, and it will cure properly, then you won't give a sh** - you're not allowed to say shit.

Summer NAMM is still happening, they just rebranded it to NAMM NeXT - it's still about industry but they're shark tanking it a bit. Literally :-) This month, Nashville, honestly it seems refocused almost right at influencers and industry parts that get a little less attention at the annual main show, strategy, business, etc. not just *stuff* or 95% the same stuff with new paint. I am very curious to see who attends, from what organizations, and what they're bringing to demo or push.

It mite matter , but I like to see a guitar built with quality and craftmenship at a reasonable price for working musician who see their instruments as a tool and an extension of them selfs not as a collector piece. Or custom shop bull s . T😢hey no it takes a lot of work for working musicians and these prices are over the top. When you see these company from Japan south Korea and China, Indonesia making guitars the way they are for a fraction of the price what's that tell ya . Just my thoughts. I like to see the manufacturing come back here with the same intensity and quality at a reasonable price that would benefit everybody here in or country. Why let them out shine us when we do it the best when we put or shoulder to the grin and give a major women a sense of pride because the are working and taking care of their bissness without worry about a hand out

I have numerous complaints about Guitar Center but I won't go down that hole. I must say it does suck if guitar stores in general are gone in the near future, because I do like the tangible side of it, however I shop on Sweetwater so much these days due to their excellent customer service, advice and the fact that everything comes with a 2 year warranty, no charge. I am also not into buying bass guitars like I was because I am happy with the few I have and mainly rotate between 2-3 when I perform. Modifications are what I do more to a guitar these days and I can't sample things like certain pickups in guitar center because they aren't on the instruments there. So I can see both sides of it, especially if you're new to the game and tangibility is what you need. For most of us that have been in the game quite a while, we know what we like for the most part so it's a fast in-and-out type of transaction. One thing I noticed lately at guitar center though, they have locked up sooooo many of the basses. I guess the only alternative left from brick and mortar guitar stores are pawn shops. I have gotten great deals there!

Too many Samashes and Guitar Centers: a customer walks in, but employees are high / hanging out talking to one another / nowhere to be seen, guitars are dirty /super high action/unplayable, no picks available, not enough amps to test an instrument, someone is slapping on volume 10 in small bass room for an hour at a time, then their friend takes over, so hard to test-drive a bass, no employee in the drum corner / acoustic guitar room... Then they sulk about business failure. Internet sales are and will be the future.
